The Best Way to Gain Muscle Mass is not as Hard as You Think

The best way to gain muscle mass is not as difficult as you might think. If your diet and training is in order, than you will see gains that may even surprise you. But you can't just think you'll go into the gym and gain 20 pounds instantly after your first set of bench press. It will be difficult. The first two weeks will be a struggle for you. However, once you get used to it, it becomes easier.

Now, when you do train, the best way to gain muscle mass quickly is to use free weights. You must focus on compound free-weight training, and lift challenging (that is, heavier) weights. This stimulates the largest amount of muscle fibers.Your body responds to this stimulus by increasing the size of your muscle fibers. In the past, I used mostly machines. I was always told that free weights were a waste of time, and machines were much safer and more effective. Boy, was I mislead! Most machines are a waste of time for us. Machines limit your development, because they help to support the weight. On the other hand, free weights make you support the weight along the entire path of the movement, which helps to stimulate more muscle fibers while also strengthening smaller and/or weaker muscles.

The best way to gain muscle mass fast requires heavy lifting with low repetitions, along with lots and lots of eating. You need to eat like a horse. You need until your stomach is full, and then eat some more. If you want to get big fast, plan to eat 6-7 large meals a day. I would also recommend supplementing protein if you do not feel you are getting your 1 gram per pound of bodyweight. If you do an all-out bulk like this, expect some fat gains. If you eat clean, you will have nothing to worry about, as fat gains will be kept to a minimum. Make sure you're giving it your all in the gym, however. Train to much and neglect your eating, and you will end up tired and your growth will stall. Eat too much and don't train enough and you will end up gaining fat, not muscle. This is a double edged sword.

The best way to gain muscle mass is not that difficult, but it can be a brain bender if you don't approach it correctly. You have to have a very focused mindset. You have to work hard, lift heavy, and above all, you have to eat right if you want to see results. I can't stress that enough. All the lifting in the world won't help you if you don't eat. The first couple of weeks will be a battle, but as you get used to it, it will become easier and easier. When you get in a groove, your muscles get in a groove, aka grow.

It is a little more difficult to find the best way to gain muscle mass without also gaining fat. To minimize fat gains, I recommend cardiovascular exercise on your off days, allowing a couple days to rest. For example, you would train Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and hop on the bike or go for a run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturdays. On top of this, your diet must be fine-tuned, with almost no junk food. Muscle gain requires a caloric surplus, and to ensure this surplus does not turn into fat, you must be disciplined.

Do big, compound exercises like the squat, dead lift, and bench press. These work many muscle groups and are some of the most difficult exercises to complete. It will be hell in the gym, but your body will thank you for it once you've recovered and eaten by growing big and strong. Don't do 6 sets of them, 3 sets of the big exercises is usually enough for muscle fatigue and growth.

The very best way to gain muscle mass is to push yourself and train like a freak. Workout as if each set and rep is the last that you will do, hustle between your exercises and keep your break periods even and honest. I recommend somewhere between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. By increasing your intensity like this you are improving cardiovascular health and stimulating muscle growth.
